Free receipt template and generator
Fill in your business name, address, items, tax rate and payment method, and the receipt updates as you type. Pick one of three styles, then download it as a PNG or print it to PDF. It is built for freelancers, market sellers and small shops who need a tidy receipt for a customer or for their own books.
Live preview
Made for your own records. A receipt must reflect a real transaction.
How to use it
- Add your business details. Type your business name and address, then set the receipt number, date and payment method.
- List the items. Add one row per item with a description, quantity and unit price. Use Add item for more rows.
- Set tax and discount. Enter your tax rate and, if you gave one, a percent or flat discount. The totals update immediately.
- Choose a style. Switch between Classic, Modern and Minimal and check the live preview.
- Download or print. Press Download PNG for an image file, or Print or save PDF and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog.
How it works
Each line total is quantity times unit price, rounded to the cent. The subtotal is the sum of the line totals.
A percent discount is taken off the subtotal. A flat discount is also taken off the subtotal and can never be larger than it.
Tax is charged on the discounted amount at the rate you type. The total is the discounted amount plus tax. Every figure comes from the numbers you enter; nothing is looked up or assumed.
The preview is drawn on an HTML canvas in your browser. The PNG is exported from that same canvas at twice the preview resolution, and the print view uses the same image, so what you see is what you get. No data leaves your device.
Questions
Is the receipt generator really free?
Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many receipts you make. The page runs entirely in your browser.
Is anything I type uploaded or stored?
No. The preview and the PNG are created on your device, and the form is not sent to a server. Close the tab and the details are gone.
How do I save the receipt as a PDF?
Press Print or save PDF, then pick Save as PDF as the destination in your browser's print dialog. Only the receipt is printed, not the form around it.
What should a receipt include?
At minimum the seller's name, the date, what was sold, the amount paid and how it was paid. A receipt number makes it easy to find later, and a tax line is needed wherever you collect sales tax or VAT.
Can I make a receipt for a sale that did not happen?
No. A receipt is a record of a real transaction and is meant for your own records. Do not use it to document a payment that never took place.
Does the generator work out the right tax rate for me?
No. You type the rate that applies to your sale and location, and the tool applies it to the discounted subtotal. Check the correct rate with your tax authority or accountant.
